The trial in the criminal case against citizens of the Republic of Armenia continued at the Baku Military Court on December 4, APA reports.
Participants included the accused, their defense attorneys, some victims and their legal heirs or representatives, and state prosecutors.
The hearing began with statements from the defense attorneys.
Agshin Mammadli, representing Davit Ishkhanyan, noted that the court verdict should be issued only on the basis of conclusive and undisputed evidence. He requested the court to acquit D. Ishkhanyan.
Another defense attorney of the accused Elchin Amirov also requested the court to acquit his client.
Vafa Mehdiyeva, representing Levon Balayan, stated that the actions of her client are not characterized as a crime, requesting a court to acquit him.
L. Balayan’s other defender Sagi Mammadov also requested the court to acquit his client.
Nizami Aliyev, representing Davit Allahverdyan, said that his client does not plead guilty to the charges brought against him. Stating that the evidence brought against his client are baseless and unreliable, the defense attorney requested the court to acquit his client.
Allahverdyan’s third defender Elmaddin Mamadov supported the request.
Natig Mustafayev, representing Erik Ghazaryan, noted that his client does not plead guilty to the charges brought against him, adding that Ghazaryan handed over his weapon, surrendering voluntarily to the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, and requested the court to acquit his client.
Court proceedings continue against the Armenian nationals, who face charges related to Armenia’s military aggression against Azerbaijan, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, aggression, terrorism, violations of the laws and customs of war, financing terrorism, and the violent seizure and retention of power, among other serious offenses.
