Former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has been banned from leaving the country, said Armen Ashotyan, one of Sargsyan’s supporters, APA reports, citing Armenian media.
According to him, new charges have been brought against the former president.
Lawyer Amram Makinyan stated that the Anti-Corruption Committee has restricted the third President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, from leaving the country in connection with an incident that occurred in 2019.
The travel ban was imposed based on new charges. Makinyan clarified that the Anti-Corruption Committee unexpectedly announced last night the need to summon Sargsyan again. According to the lawyer, this decision is related to the court’s refusal to grant the prosecutor’s motion to impose a travel ban on the former president.
