A preparatory hearing was held on the criminal case of former diplomat Ramiz Valiyev, who was detained by the State Security Service, APA reports.
The defendant's profile information was clarified in the process held at the Narimanov District Court, chaired by Judge Gultekin Asadova.
Later, the defendant's lawyer Eynulla Valiyev filed a motion with the court to return the criminal case to preliminary investigation.
The lawyer said that violations of the law were committed in this criminal case: "With these violations, the court cannot proceed with the criminal case. Diplomats are rarely arrested. There are several nuances for arresting a diplomat in the country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs should make a special decision in this regard."
The lawyer also filed a motion to change the preventive measure chosen for his client.
He mentioned that if his first motion is not granted, the preventive measure should be replaced with house arrest.
Ramiz Valiyev said he agreed with the lawyer.
The public prosecutor stated that all the necessary documents mentioned by the lawyer were included in the case materials.
The public prosecutor requested that the motions not be granted and that the case be referred for review.
The court ruled that the motions of the lawyer not be granted and that the criminal case be referred for review.
The court hearing was scheduled for July 17.
