Azerbaijan MFA highly appreciates UAE's support for reconstruction in liberated territories

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Lana Zaki Anwar Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on the sidelines of the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) held in the city of Khankendi, Azerbaijan MFA told APA.

During the meeting, it was noted that the close friendship and brotherhood between the heads of state of Azerbaijan and the UAE have laid a strong foundation for the development of bilateral relations. The role of the political consultations mechanism between the two countries’ foreign ministries in further advancing the strategic partnership was also emphasized.

Satisfaction was expressed with the cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, energy, and humanitarian efforts, as well as the mutually beneficial activities within international organizations and platforms such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the UN Climate Change Conference.

The parties discussed successful joint projects in the field of alternative energy and praised the achievements in this area.

Minister Bayramov informed the UAE side in detail about the ongoing reconstruction efforts in the territories liberated from occupation, the return of former internally displaced persons to their homes, and the serious threat posed by landmines to these processes.

The UAE’s support in humanitarian demining and reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan was highly appreciated.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
