NATO Secretary General: NATO will continue to support Ukraine

Ahead of the NATO summit in the Netherlands, a meeting was held between President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of the European Council António Costa, and the head of the military alliance Mark Rutte.

"I made yesterday the announcement that European and Canadian Allies have now pledged more than 35 billion euro in support for Ukraine, which is more than last year, because last year, for the full year, it was over 50 billion. Now, before the first of July, it is already 35 billion. So we can safely assume that for the full year, it will be more than last year," said NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

"The €150 billion financing program, we call it SAFE, where member states, as well as Ukraine and other partners, can take these loans to invest in the Ukrainian defense industry, which has shown its ability to innovate, produce quickly and reliably at scale," said Ursula von der Leyen.

Expressing his gratitude for the support, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the European Union’s support for Ukraine is one of the key factors strengthening his country.
