Kobakhidze: Interests of both sides equally considered in Georgia-Azerbaijan talks

Georgia approached negotiations with Azerbaijan not as a standard dialogue between two states, but as a friendly conversation on shared interests, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at a press conference, APA’s local bureau reports.

“We have ideal conditions everywhere, the interests of both sides are equally taken into account. This applies to the import and transit of both gas and electricity, as well as the operation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Supsa pipeline,” he noted.

According to Kobakhidze, due to the suspension of the Baku-Tbilisi-Supsa pipeline’s operation, the Georgian state had been losing tens of millions of lari in potential revenue, and after operations resumed, the relevant income would be transferred to the state budget.

Kobakhidze also noted that the guaranteed volume of natural gas supplies to Georgia had been increased.

“In terms of guarantees, the volume has generally been increased. You know that there are three main directions of agreements related to gas from the Shah Deniz field, including guarantees, as well as two additional agreements. Under the signed agreement, we obtained a greater guarantee in terms of volume than the existing one,” he added.
