Yalchin Rafiyev: Azerbaijan allocated approximately $15B to restore liberated territories

Azerbaijan has demonstrated an example of large-scale post-conflict rehabilitation and reconstruction based on a comprehensive approach and long-term strategic planning, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev said at an event held as part of WUF13, Olaylar informs.

The diplomat cited mine contamination as one of the key obstacles to recovery. "About 1.5 million mines and unexploded ordnance remain in the liberated lands, which must be completely cleared for full-scale reconstruction work to be carried out," he emphasized.

Yalchin Rafiyev noted that since the end of the conflict, Azerbaijan has already allocated approximately $15 billion to reconstruction projects, and the state continues to allocate significant budgetary funds for these purposes annually.

"When you rebuild from scratch, you have the opportunity to build better - taking into account sustainability, climate adaptation, and modern urban planning standards," he said.
