At the Leaders’ Session held within the framework of WUF13, Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province Maryam Nawaz Sharif spoke about urban and rural development projects being implemented in the region, APA reports.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program, more than 160,000 families have received housing support through zero-interest financing, while over 100,000 families have already moved into their new homes.

According to her, under the “Model Villages” program, more than 2,000 villages across Punjab are being equipped with clean water, sewage systems, roads, and solar energy infrastructure.

The Chief Minister noted that an urban development program worth more than $2 billion is being implemented in Punjab. Within the framework of the program, urban infrastructure is being modernized, while more than 100 historical and tourism sites are being restored.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif added that more than 150,000 workers are engaged daily under the “Clean Punjab” program, which also envisages a transition to a circular economy model involving waste recycling and energy production.
