Minister: Angola expanding housing programs for sustainable urban development

The Angolan government is implementing various programs to ensure sustainable urban development and address housing problems amid rapid urbanization, Angola’s Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing Carlos Alberto dos Santos said during the ministers’ meeting on the New Urban Agenda organized within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, urbanization in the country is creating serious challenges in the fields of housing, transport, and utility infrastructure.

The minister noted that Angola is implementing programs involving affordable housing construction, public-private partnerships, and urban reconstruction to address these challenges.

“Properly planned urbanization is an important tool for economic growth, social inclusivity, and adaptation to climate change,” he emphasized.
