Injuries in Ulyanovsk train derailment rise to 23, including four children - UPDATED

The number of people injured in a train derailment in Russia’s Ulyanovsk region has risen to 23, including four children, APA reports, citing Russian media.

The injured have been hospitalized, with most sustaining moderate and minor injuries.

A total of 415 people, including 34 children, were on board the train.

Seven carriages of a passenger train traveling on the Chelyabinsk–Moscow route derailed in Russia’s Ulyanovsk region, APA reports, citing Russian Railways.

Emergency medical teams have been dispatched to the scene. Information on the injured is being clarified. According to preliminary data, there are no fatalities.

The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the incident, and the causes of the accident are being determined.
