Azerbaijan is recognized as a country that makes a reliable contribution to ensuring energy security, said Prime Minister Ali Asadov at the meeting of prime ministers and vice presidents of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Baku, APA reports.
“Cooperation in the energy sector is also one of the key directions of our agenda. Azerbaijan has long been recognized as a country that makes a reliable contribution to ensuring energy security. The experience we have gained in traditional energy resources and the infrastructure we have established are creating new opportunities for cooperation today. The number of countries receiving Azerbaijani gas has already reached 16. Thus, Azerbaijan ranks first in the world in terms of the number of countries it exports gas to via pipelines.
However, our energy policy is not limited to hydrocarbon resources. Azerbaijan is currently actively promoting a green energy agenda and attaches special importance to the development of renewable energy sources. Utilizing the renewable energy potential of Azerbaijan, as well as Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, to develop interregional connections is one of the main directions of our cooperation. In this regard, we welcome Kyrgyzstan’s intention to join cooperation on exporting green energy to Europe,” the prime minister noted.
