Azerbaijani, Belgian FMs discuss normalization process with Armenia

Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs and Development Cooperation, Maxime Prévot held a phone call with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, the Azerbaijan MFA told APA.

During the conversation, the sides discussed the current security situation in the Middle East, bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Belgium, as well as prospects for cooperation within the European Union framework.

The ministers expressed deep concern over the ongoing military escalation in the Middle East and emphasized the importance of resolving the conflict through diplomatic means. The Belgian minister also expressed solidarity with Azerbaijan regarding the drone attack from Iranian territory in the direction of Nakhchivan and thanked the country for the conditions created to ensure the evacuation of Belgian citizens from Iran.

The ministers also exchanged views on the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the measures taken to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.

The sides highlighted the importance of constructive dialogue, existing mechanisms such as political consultations, mutual visits, and high-level contacts to further develop cooperation on issues of mutual interest between Azerbaijan and Belgium.
