US lowers global oil production forecast for this year, raises outlook for next year

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) under the U.S. Department of Energy has announced its forecast for global daily production of oil and other liquid hydrocarbons for 2026–2027, APA-Economics reports, citing the EIA’s monthly report.

Global daily production of liquid hydrocarbons is expected to average 109.61 million barrels in 2027 (previous forecast – 108.75 million barrels), which is 2.57 million barrels higher than the forecast figure for 2026.

At the same time, the EIA has updated its forecast for global daily production of liquid hydrocarbons for 2026. According to the forecast, global daily production of liquid hydrocarbons this year will average 107.04 million barrels, which is 0.81 million barrels lower than the previous forecast.

It is noted that in 2025, global daily production of liquid hydrocarbons averaged 106.31 million barrels, which represents an increase of 3.14 million barrels compared to the 2024 figure (103.17 million barrels).

Recall that in 2023, global daily production of liquid hydrocarbons averaged 102.02 million barrels.
