Demolition of any historical monument in Baku is not allowed, say Head of Baku General Directorate

No historical monument or cultural heritage site in Baku is allowed to be demolished, Riad Gasimov, Head of Baku General Directorate of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture told journalists, APA reports.

“In recent years, we have all witnessed the major reforms and large-scale projects implemented in Baku. One of our main priorities is the sustainable development of the city, creating a people-oriented urban environment, and ensuring that the city becomes modern, comfortable, and convenient. The preservation of heritage is one of the key priorities at the state level. This can be observed in the ‘Icherisheher’ area, Fountains Square, and the three phases of the Central Park,” he said.

He also noted that in the near future, it is planned to extend the Boulevard to a length of 25 kilometers.
