Phase 1 and Phase 2 projects of Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor included in TYNDP 2026 portfolio

The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) has published a preliminary list of electricity infrastructure projects to be assessed under the next Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP), the Ministry of Energy told APA-Economics.

Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor projects are included in the TYNDP 2026 project portfolio. In total, 178 transmission and 49 storage projects are included in this portfolio.

These projects were submitted by project initiators during the first application phase held in April-May 2025. ENTSO-E checked the compliance of all applications with the acceptance criteria for TYNDP 2026 and confirmed that the "Green Energy Corridor" project covering Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary also met the requirements. In the next phase, the second application window was open between September 15 and October 15, 2025, and targeted projects at the idea stage. All submitted projects will undergo administrative and technical review in November 2025. During 2026, a cost-benefit analysis will be conducted for all projects included in the TYNDP 2026 portfolio. The results will be announced at the end of 2026.

Note that the “Agreement on Strategic Partnership in the Development and Transmission of Green Energy between the Governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary” was signed in Bucharest on December 17, 2022. The entity responsible for the implementation of the project, the “Green Energy Corridor Energy Company” (GECO), has been established. So far, 10 meetings of the Ministerial/Steering Committee have been held. The feasibility study of the project is being carried out by the “CESI” company.
