Frankfurt overcomes early deficit to crush Galatasaray 5-1

Eintracht Frankfurt delivered a commanding 5-1 victory over Galatasaray at Deutsche Bank Park on Thursday night, overcoming an early deficit to secure a dominant win in their UEFA Champions League group stage encounter, APA reports citing Türkiye Today.

The Turkish champions struck first through Yunus Akgun in the eighth minute, capitalizing on a fast break finished by the winger after a precise assist from Leroy Sane. The early goal silenced the home crowd and gave Galatasaray the momentum they had hoped for in their European campaign.

Frankfurt's response proved swift and decisive. The hosts leveled the match in the 37th minute through an unfortunate own goal by Galatasaray defender Davinson Sánchez, who deflected a Ritsu Doan effort past his own goalkeeper.

The German side seized control before halftime when Can Uzun found the net in the 45th minute, converting a cross from Jonathan Burkardt during a clinical counter-attack to give Frankfurt a 2-1 lead heading into the break.

Galatasaray's defensive struggles continued after the interval, with another own goal extending Frankfurt's advantage. Wilfried Singo inadvertently turned the ball into his own net in the 45th minute of the second half, effectively ending any hopes of a comeback for the Türkiye champions.
