Azerbaijan launched implementation of $1.1 million heat supply project

With the financial support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the implementation of the technical assistance project "Decarbonization of the Heat Supply Sector and Promotion of Integration of Renewable Heat Energy" has begun in Azerbaijan, APA-Economics reports.

The project, funded by the ADB’s Clean Energy Fund and Technical Assistance Special Fund, amounts to 1.1 million US dollars.

The main objectives of the project include the preparation of draft normative legal documents arising from the implementation of the National Strategy in the heat supply sector and the Law "On Heat Supply," decarbonization of the heat sector, increasing the energy efficiency of existing heating systems, optimizing tariff policy, promoting the integration of renewable heat energy through a pilot project, and developing the development strategy of "Azeristiliktəchizat" JSC.

The selection process conducted by ADB to hire a consultant for the implementation of the technical assistance project was completed in August, and a joint venture consisting of “NIRAS” (Denmark), "Integration Environment & Energy GMBH" (Germany), and "ENERGAZER" LLC (Azerbaijan) was selected as the consultant. The services planned within the project are expected to be completed by March 2027.

It should be noted that during the implementation of the project, the relevant technical and organizational support will be provided by the Ministry of Energy and “Azeristiliktəchizat” JSC.
