Rubio: US didn't intend to make Ukraine-Alaska Deal without Kyiv

The United States did not intend to conclude a deal on Ukraine at the Russian-American summit in Alaska due to Kyiv's absence from the meeting, US Secretary of State and Acting Assistant to the US President for National Security Affairs Marco Rubio said on Fox television, APA reports.

"We never said that a deal would be reached as a result of this meeting [in Alaska]. Because the Ukrainians were not there," Rubio said. In his opinion, the United States and the West as a whole are not a party to the conflict in Ukraine. "This is a war between two countries - Ukraine and Russia, not with America," the head of the US State Department asserted.

Rubio also admitted that it would not be possible to reach a peace agreement on Ukraine.
