Szijjártó: EU and Ukraine want to change government in Hungary

The countries of the European Union, much like Ukraine’s current leadership, want to see a change of government in Hungary and are openly supporting the country’s political opposition to achieve this, APA reports, citing the TASS news agency.

Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó stated that the EU is interested in having a government in Hungary that serves European interests, does not criticize Brussels’ actions, and supports its imperial plans.

Szijjártó claimed that Ukraine is acting jointly with the EU in this regard, and that one of Kyiv’s main foreign policy goals is to ensure the victory of an opposition party in Hungary’s 2026 parliamentary elections.

The Hungarian Foreign Ministry alleged that Kyiv’s objective is to remove Viktor Orbán from the post of Prime Minister. According to Szijjártó, Ukraine expects that if a puppet government comes to power in Hungary, it will immediately agree to Ukraine’s EU membership and supply it with military aid. Since the Orbán government has prevented this, Ukraine does not want him to remain in office.
