SSS and SBS conduct operation, prevent smuggling of 42 kg of drugs from Iran into Azerbaijan

The State Security Service (SSS) and the State Border Service (SBS) have conducted a joint operation, preventing the smuggling of 42 kg of drugs into the country, APA reports.

As part of efforts to combat the smuggling and illegal circulation of large quantities of narcotic substances, the State Security Service and the State Border Service of Azerbaijan conducted a joint search operation. During the operation, nearly 42 kilograms of various types of drugs were prevented from being smuggled into the country through the section of the Azerbaijan–Islamic Republic of Iran border that passes through the Imishli district. The seized substances include 33.125 kg of dried marijuana, 5.015 kg of opium, 2.090 kg of heroin, and 1.440 kg of methamphetamine.

The search and investigation operations are currently ongoing.
