South Caucasus is one of the most stable regions if we look at developments in world in a broader context - Assistant to Azerbaijani President

If we look at what is happening in the world in a broad perspective and compare it, we will see that the South Caucasus is one of the most stable regions, said Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, during the “The Middle Corridor: A New Geopolitical and Economic Lifeline?” panel held within the framework of the “GLOBSEC Forum 2025” in Prague, APA reports.

He also touched upon the Karabakh conflict, which is left in the past, and the negotiation process that was once conducted with Armenia to resolve this problem, and assessed the ongoing efforts towards peace:

“Azerbaijan has caused a number of changes in the South Caucasus region. Currently, a positive situation and a new status quo have been formed in the region. Unfortunately, this did not happen based on Armenia’s good intentions. Because Azerbaijan approached the negotiation process, which did not yield any real results for 30 years, with hope. However, this is in the past. Now there is real peace in the region. There is de facto peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. If we look at what is happening in the world in a broader perspective and compare it, we will see that the South Caucasus is one of the most stable regions.”
