“We met with internally displaced persons who had lived in those areas for years during the construction and planning stages and learned their views,” Vahid Hajiyev, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for the Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts, said this during the event titled “From Urbicide to Revival: Sustainable Reconstruction, Resettlement and Development in Azerbaijan’s Liberated Territories” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.
He stated that their opinions are taken into account even before the planning process begins.
“After people return, we already work together and maintain daily communication. Their opinions are very important to us and are always taken into consideration. However, this alone is not enough. Once people return, they themselves will further develop those areas and make them more beautiful and vibrant. Because real development is shaped precisely through people’s own participation. Today, we are applying this approach in Soltanli and other residential areas as well — working in coordination with residents and taking their needs and proposals into account,” he said.
