Nizami Ganjavi is one of the most prominent creators of epic works in the South Caucasus, Florencia Soto Nino-Martinez, co-chair of the Working Group on Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities of the IUCN, said during the roundtable titled “Adequate Housing for Indigenous Peoples” held within the framework of WUF13, APA-Economics reports.
She stated that the works of Nizami Ganjavi are recognized in various parts of the world and that his work “Layla and Majnun” is also known in the Manipur region of India.
According to her, Nizami Ganjavi, who lived in the 12th century, demonstrated that people have faced various crises throughout history, while also emphasizing that solutions to these problems exist.
“Despite the fact that we are living in 2026, the philosophy put forward by Nizami in the 12th century still remains relevant today,” Florencia Soto Nino-Martinez noted.
She added that Nizami’s ideas related to coexistence, peace, security, and moral values continue to maintain their significance in light of the challenges of the modern world.
