Aghdam’s “Imarat” Complex equipped with modern technologies - PHOTO

Modern technologies installed in the complex allow visitors to obtain information in various languages.

The “Imarat” Historical-Architectural Museum Complex is one of the most important historical and architectural monuments of Karabakh, as well as Azerbaijan. Preserving traces of the Karabakh Khanate period, this site played an important role in the cultural and public life of the region for many years, and is now open to visitors after being restored to its former appearance through large-scale restoration and reconstruction works.

Aynura Jafarova, head of department at the “Imarat” Historical-Architectural Museum Complex, told APA that participating in the preservation of the heritage of this historical site is both a source of pride and a responsibility:

“Our activities mainly consist of preserving the complex and presenting our historical heritage to visitors in a comprehensive and accurate manner. The complex is an important historical and architectural monument dating back to the 18th–19th centuries and reflects the cultural heritage of the Karabakh Khanate period. The family cemetery of the khan lineage, as well as the grave of Khurshidbanu Natavan, are located here. During the occupation period, this monument was also subjected to vandalism. The complex was destroyed and used for purposes inconsistent with its intended function for a long time.”

A. Jafarova emphasized that following liberation from occupation, the complex was restored to its former historical appearance as a result of restoration and reconstruction works carried out there.

According to her, the Imarat complex is also equipped with modern technologies: “The interactive systems and multimedia tools installed here allow visitors to obtain information in various languages. Even without a guide, it is possible to receive detailed information about the history of the complex through monitors.”

It was noted that the complex is currently one of the sites attracting interest from both local and foreign tourists.
