By the end of 2030, the main initiative of Manama, the capital of Bahrain, is to ensure the maximum level of sustainability, competitiveness and social equality, Yusuf Mohammed Al Qassab, Advisor for Special Projects to Bahrain’s Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, said during the event titled “Smart Cities in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Arab Region” held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, APA reports.
According to him, one of the main goals covers the areas of energy, mobility and urbanization.
Yusuf Mohammed Al Qassab stated that the practices used in Manama have shown that the “smart city” program can be both technologically advanced and people-oriented.
“Within the framework of goals and working groups, all institutions have been brought together under the coordination of the Ministry of Housing, Development, Projects and Infrastructure so that all projects related to the development of Manama as a ‘smart city’ are implemented harmoniously,” Yusuf Mohammed Al Qassab noted.
He added that Manama has developed both as the capital and the main commercial center of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
