Anar Guliyev: WUF13 is progressing toward its goals

“WUF13 is progressing toward its goals," Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, said during the event titled “Advancing Housing Through Multilateralism: From Global Commitments to Local Impact” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.

He stated that the focus should now shift from policy development to its effective implementation: “Cities are interconnected ecosystems, and housing policy becomes more effective when planned together with transport, the labor market, the environment, energy efficiency and social infrastructure. Multilateralism should become not only a consultation platform, but also an implementation-oriented cooperation model. Cities need financing, technology transfer, institutional partnerships and skills development. Financing is one of the main challenges. State resources alone are not sufficient, therefore public-private partnerships and innovative financing mechanisms are important.

Azerbaijan believes that sustainable housing and urban resilience require integrated planning and a long-term strategic vision. The institution of special representatives has created an effective model in this field by ensuring coordination in the liberated territories.

Azerbaijan is also implementing the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals, integrating them into local planning. Today’s discussions create an important opportunity to strengthen multilateral cooperation and provide more effective responses to global urban challenges.”
