WUF13 creates opportunities for us for deeper cooperation and stronger action, Anacláudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said during the roundtable on “Children and Youth” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.
She spoke about the problems faced by young people.
“There are young people who are taking new steps in life, entering university and later starting to look for work. They are searching for a place to live and suddenly realize that they do not have enough means either to rent or buy a home. As a result, they can neither build their careers nor devote the necessary attention to their education. This situation shows us that it is very important to understand what these people are feeling and to recognize the urgency of the problem. As UN-Habitat, we understand the importance of this issue well and have implemented several initiatives. In particular, we have special guidelines related to women, our ‘Youth 2030’ vision document, a cities partnership platform related to children, and other programs aimed at youth development,” Rossbach noted.
