Government of Catalonia: Everyone bears responsibility during the transformation of a city

“Particular attention should be paid to areas such as housing provision, employment, access to public services, and the protection of vulnerable groups,” Elisabet Cirici, Director General for Territorial Planning, Urban Development and Architecture of the Government of Catalonia of the Kingdom of Spain, said during the forum titled “Rethinking Cultural Heritage and Inclusive Urban Regeneration” held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.

She stated that when discussing urban transformation, certain issues must be prioritized: “During the transformation of a city, every individual, state institution, and relevant stakeholder bears responsibility. This process should not be limited only to physical renewal, but must also be based on the principles of social justice and inclusivity.

Social issues must also be resolved. While carrying out such work, each project should not only respond to local needs, but also be shaped as an exemplary approach and contribute to broader, global solutions to urban problems,” she said.
