Media: Military operation options against Iran presented to Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump convened a meeting of his national security team on the evening of May 18, during which he was presented with options for the possible use of military force against Iran.

According to the “Axios” portal, citing sources, the meeting had initially been scheduled for May 19, and some members of the administration believed Trump would make a decision regarding a potential operation against Iran.

However, the meeting took place just hours after the U.S. leader announced that he had postponed an attack on Iran. Attendees included Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe.

“The next steps in the conflict with Iran, the state of diplomatic efforts, and various plans for U.S. strikes against Iran were discussed,” the portal reported.
