Minister: Azerbaijan’s role in regional connectivity is further strengthening with the Zangezur corridor

Today, it is becoming increasingly clear that cities are no longer defined only by the height of their buildings, but by the strength of their connections. At the center of these connections stands energy, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said during the special session titled “Cities at the Center of Connectivity: Urban Reconstruction and Regional Cooperation” organized within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.

According to him, Azerbaijan, located at the intersection of Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East, plays an important role in building this future by becoming a strategic center of regional energy and trade connectivity.

“This role is becoming even stronger with the development of the new corridor and the Zangezur corridor, which will become one of its key components,” the minister noted.

He added that Azerbaijan’s energy connectivity initiatives linking Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Türkiye and Europe are laying the foundation for new energy cooperation. Through the joint use of pipelines and optical components, these projects will also provide digital connectivity across a wide geography.

“Today, successful cities are no longer assessed by the size of their buildings, but by their use of resources, innovation, sustainability and level of integration. We are determined to contribute to the construction of such cities and to create partnerships that will connect and strengthen them,” Parviz Shahbazov concluded his speech.
