Committee: Housing policy cannot be planned separately from transport, infrastructure, and employment

"Housing policy cannot be planned separately from transport, infrastructure, and employment," Deputy Head of the Office of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture and Deputy National Coordinator of WUF13 Gulshan Rzayeva said during the high-level dialogue titled “The Global Housing Crisis – What’s the Plan?” held within the framework of WUF13, APA-Economics reports.

She noted that the housing crisis is no longer only a problem of individual regions, but has turned into a multidimensional global challenge affecting both developed and developing countries.

According to Gulshan Rzayeva, without safe, accessible, and affordable housing, it is impossible to achieve health equality, strengthen economic resilience, and protect against the impacts of climate change.

“This is not only a housing issue. It is a development, climate, and human rights issue,” she emphasized.

The committee official noted that housing policy should be planned together with transport, engineering infrastructure, jobs, public services, and climate resilience. In her view, strengthening land management and preserving the social and ecological function of land are among the key opportunities for increasing housing affordability.

Gulshan Rzayeva added that Azerbaijan, as the host of WUF13, is proud to bring together global leaders, experts, and decision-makers to shape the future of cities.
