Committee: Baku city master plan is one of the main discussion topics at WUF13

“The Azerbaijan pavilion was stylistically designed inspired by the architectural form of the Heydar Aliyev Center," Head of Department at the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture Ramil Jahangirov said in a statement to APA.

He noted that a plane tree was placed in the entrance section of the pavilion’s design:

“This element is not only a symbol of development and life, but also one of the symbols of Azerbaijan. The overall structure of the pavilion is built on the concept of ‘from the past to the future’ and provides information about Azerbaijan’s urban planning and architectural heritage, history and implemented projects. Extensive information is also presented here about Icherisheher and other urban planning examples shaped since the Middle Ages.”

He noted that one of the main topics at the urban planning forum is housing policy:

“The master plan of the city of Baku is also one of the main discussion topics. Through the master plan, information is provided about the history of urban planning and development in Baku, explaining the stages this process has gone through, how it has developed and how it has reached the present day. At the same time, existing challenges and projects planned for implementation in the future are also presented.”

According to him, the number of people living, working, studying and operating in the Karabakh and East Zangezur regions is approaching 90,000:

“In this context, we proudly present the projects that have been implemented. Currently, large-scale construction and development works are continuing in all cities and dozens of villages. Detailed information about these projects is provided to visitors, and they generate great interest.”
