Housing policy must be developed with women’s needs in mind, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Anacláudia Rossbach said during the joint opening of the assemblies held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
Rossbach noted that this is extremely important both for independence and gender equality:
“Housing policy must be developed taking into account the needs of women.
We understand that cities fail when women do not have security of property ownership, safe living conditions, access to services, and a voice in decision-making.
Therefore, women must participate in the design of cities and be guaranteed safe living conditions.”
