Inclusive and people-centered planning demonstrates how important gender equality is for sustainable urban development, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev said during the joint opening of the assemblies held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
He noted that alongside women’s leadership, civil society is also one of the main pillars of community development:
“NGOs and local initiatives create a link between policy and the real needs of people. They support vulnerable groups, strengthen trust, and make development more inclusive and humane.
The same principle applies to youth. Youth development is one of our key priorities. We invest in education, leadership, and professional development programs because young people are the main driving force behind future change.
Young people should not only inherit the future of cities, but should already participate in shaping that future today.
The active participation of volunteers at WUF13 is a clear example of this. Their involvement shows that young people are ready to build better cities and stronger communities.”
