Urban challenges are growing faster than policy and implementation mechanisms, Janet Goulding, Assistant Deputy Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities of Canada, said during the ministers’ meeting on the New Urban Agenda organized within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to her, under the National Housing Strategy launched in 2017, the Canadian government has allocated more than 115 billion Canadian dollars in investments over a period exceeding 10 years.
Janet Goulding noted that the newly established federal institution “Build Canada Homes” is expanding the use of public lands for housing construction, facilitating financing, and accelerating construction processes.
She stated that Canada’s main priorities over the next decade will be accelerating housing construction, strengthening inclusivity, and building climate-resilient cities.
