Share of renewable energy in Azerbaijan’s overall energy balance to be increased

Azerbaijan is making rapid progress in the field of renewable energy, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev said during the ministers’ meeting held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

He noted that in 2025, Azerbaijan and the UAE signed an agreement on the construction of 240 MW solar power plants in Karabakh:

“The Karabakh Solar Power Plant, implemented within the framework of partnership with Masdar, is expected to generate approximately 250 million kWh of electricity annually.

In addition, the Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant implemented by ADPower will become the largest wind energy project in the region.

As a result of these initiatives, the share of renewable energy in Azerbaijan’s overall energy balance is expected to increase from 13% to approximately 38%.”

Anar Guliyev stated that Azerbaijan also supports the launch of initiatives aimed at promoting international standards for sustainable recovery and reconstruction together with the United Arab Emirates, Ireland, and other partners.
