Maimunah Mohd Sharif: Comprehensive discussions will be held in Baku over five days

Providing housing for the world is currently the main issue, Maimunah Mohd Sharif, Adviser on Sustainable Urbanization to the Malaysian government, said while speaking to journalists within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.

“Of course, the World Urban Forum is a platform where all issues related to sustainable urbanization are discussed. All communities gather here — policymakers, leaders at the local, regional, national and global levels, as well as the public, youth and the private sector — to discuss urbanization challenges.

At present, the main issue is providing housing for the world.

As a former mayor and former executive director, I can say that the housing issue is very closely linked to life,” she noted.

She emphasized that all these issues will be comprehensively discussed in Baku over the course of five days:

“I hope that by the end of the day, certain outcomes will be achieved. For example, in Malaysia, we will see how we can implement those outcomes and put decisions and action plans into practice. At the same time, I hope that other leaders will take the same steps.

The housing issue is also closely linked to climate change and climate resilience. Thus, housing is a fundamental pillar for people’s well-being and livelihood.”
