WUF13-related public transport measures in Baku revealed

The Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), jointly with the WUF13 Operations Company, has organized 9 HUBs and 2 terminal points, as well as more than 67 intermediate stops within the framework of the WUF13 forum, AYNA told APA.

Six routes are operating to transport event participants from Heydar Aliyev International Airport to designated points, while 12 routes are operating during the event days to transport participants from those points to the forum venue. Transportation is mainly carried out by electric buses. The management of the mentioned lines and the execution of transport operations are monitored 24/7 by AYNA’s monitoring center. Nearly 1,500 staff members, including drivers and management personnel, have been involved in these processes to ensure the implementation of transport operations.

Through the “Ayna MaaS” application, it is possible to plan trips both on event routes and public transport routes. In connection with WUF13, the possibility of payment in public transport using foreign bank cards, as well as functionality for event routes in the “Ayna MaaS” application, has been created.

Within the framework of WUF13, special traffic lanes with a total length of 41.5 km have been organized on 6 streets and avenues, and new road signs have been installed. Horizontal road markings have been restored on 34 streets and avenues (a total of 170 km), while lines were restored on newly laid asphalt pavement on 19 streets and avenues (over 20 km).

The length of micromobility lanes organized across the city has been extended to 63.2 km. These lanes, arranged on the city’s streets and avenues, connect attraction points.

Parking spaces for small electric vehicles have been optimized, and operators are functioning at those points. Appropriate conditions have been created to enable WUF13 guests to travel comfortably over short distances. The scooter fleet has been renewed, and the possibility of registration using foreign mobile numbers has been created for their rental. At the same time, the patrol system has been switched to an enhanced operating mode in connection with WUF13.

For transportation related to the event, 150 vehicles of the “Baku Taxi” service and 330 other vehicles partnered with taxi order operators for airport transportation have been involved, drivers were given training on special preparation, and meetings were held with taxi fleets in connection with WUF13, during which relevant instructions were given. Taking security measures into account, taxis will be allowed to operate in the stadium transport zone and at the “Koroglu” Transport Interchange Center. At the same time, pick-up and drop-off points for vehicles dispatched by taxi order operators in connection with the event have been designated in front of “Terminal 2” at the airport area.
