Israel supports US-Iran ceasefire, excludes Lebanon from truce -UPDATED

Four hours after US President Donald Trump’s announcement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office issues a statement welcoming the ceasefire between the US and Iran, while stressing that it does not cover Lebanon despite Pakistani mediators’ claims to the contrary, The Times of Israel reports.

“Israel supports President Trump’s decision to suspend strikes against Iran for two weeks subject to Iran immediately opening the straits and stopping all attacks on the US, Israel and countries in the region,” the PMO says in a statement only issued in English.

“Israel also supports the US effort to ensure that Iran no longer poses a nuclear, missile and terror threat to America, Israel, Iran’s Arab neighbors and the world,” the statement continues.

“The United States has told Israel that it is committed to achieving these goals, shared by the US, Israel and Israel’s regional allies, in the upcoming negotiations.”

“The two-weeks ceasefire does not include Lebanon,” the premier’s office adds.

"Israel supports President Trump's decision to suspend attacks on Iran for two weeks, provided that Iran immediately opens the Straits and ceases all attacks on the United States, Israel, and countries in the region."

APA reports that this is reflected in a statement published on the "X" account of the Israeli Prime Minister's office.
