Türkiye’s gold reserves reach 702 tons - VP says

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz announced that Türkiye's gold reserves have reached 702 tons, APA's Bureau in Türkiye reports.

Cevdet Yilmaz said that the Turkish Central Bank has been managing its reserves, especially gold reserves, more efficiently by pursuing an active policy in line with the emergency situation.

According to him, Türkiye has increased the currency liquidity in circulation. The currency's strength has been temporarily increased without selling gold through "swap" operations.

"The value of the gold reserves, which were 377 tons in 2016 and worth 14 billion dollars, has reached approximately 702 tons and 100 billion dollars over time. The increase in gold prices has also strengthened the overall reserves and strengthened the country's reserve position," he noted.
