Employees of the Main Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan have removed more than 43 kilograms of narcotics from circulation during a special operation, AzerNEWS reports.

According to official information, law enforcement officers uncovered the activities of a group involved in smuggling drugs into Azerbaijan. Operations carried out in the Astara District and Garadagh District led to the detention of three individuals, Ali Mammadov, Ravan Huseynov, and Ilkin Ahmadov, who had prior convictions for serious crimes.

During the search, authorities seized 43.3 kilograms of marijuana mixed with harmful substances.

The detainees reportedly admitted to establishing criminal links with Iranian nationals, whose identities are currently under investigation, and obtaining narcotics from border areas with the intention of distributing them across various locations for profit.
