Pashinyan stresses the importance of ending the Karabakh movement in Armenia in talks with Putin

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that relations with Russia are important for Armenia, Pashinyan stated during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

Pashinyan made the remarks during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.

He emphasized that peace with Azerbaijan has a positive impact on Yerevan’s relations with Moscow.

“Of course, our relations with Russia are very deep, very important for us. In my opinion, these relations are dynamically developing in the context of new realities in our region, especially when peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan is finally established,” the Armenian prime minister said.

Pashinyan stressed Putin’s significant and key role in normalizing relations between Baku and Yerevan: “It is clear that you have personally played and continue to play a major, very important role in the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.”

Pashinyan also emphasized the importance of ending the Karabakh movement in Armenia. He stated that peace has been established between Armenia and Azerbaijan and that the two countries have recognized each other’s territorial integrity.

“As for Karabakh, we have discussed this many times, mainly in a working format. Yes, we recognized Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan, but we did so only after the top leadership of the Russian Federation publicly spoke about this twice. You remember, we have discussed this many times.

We have never hidden our problems with the CSTO, because in 2022 there was a specific situation and the CSTO mechanisms should have worked, but they did not. This, of course, led to the situation in our relations with the CSTO.”

Pashinyan also expressed hope that Armenia will soon export goods to Russia via Azerbaijan.

He added that relations between Armenia and Russia will never be called into question.
