Azerbaijan FM Jeyhun Bayramov receives newly appointed Indian ambassador Abhay Kumar

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received the newly appointed Ambassador of India to Azerbaijan Abhay Kumar on April 1, APA reports.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of relations between Azerbaijan and India.

The parties noted that the mechanism of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs would be useful not only for cooperation but also for addressing issues of disagreement between the two countries.

It was emphasized that historical ties form the foundation of bilateral relations, and satisfaction was expressed with the development of cooperation in tourism and education, as well as the existence of direct flights.

Touching upon energy cooperation, it was noted that India’s ONGC Videsh holds shares in Azerbaijan’s Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) oil field block and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, which are among the key areas of economic cooperation.

The parties also expressed concern over ongoing tensions in the Middle East. The Indian ambassador thanked Azerbaijan for its support in evacuating Indian citizens from Iran.

Minister Bayramov congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic mission.

Ambassador Abhay Kumar expressed gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized his intention to contribute to the expansion of Azerbaijan-India relations in all areas.
