Zelenskyy: Russia gives Ukraine two months to withdraw from Donbas or face further demands

Ukraine and the United States will hold video-format talks on ending the war on April 1, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a ceremony marking the fourth anniversary of the liberation of Bucha, UNIAN stated, APA reports.

“They asked me to join the meeting. I spoke about this last night with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. We agreed that he, I, Witkoff, Kushner, Lindsey Graham and others would be there. We will discuss where we stand. We will review how close we are to trilateral agreements, at least to a trilateral meeting. Therefore, we will have relevant contacts tomorrow,” Zelenskyy noted.

The Ukrainian president stressed that the most pressing issue in the talks is territory.

According to him, a compromise for Ukraine would be to agree to stop the war along the line of contact, while Russia continues to demand Ukraine’s withdrawal from the Donetsk region.

“They are telling the American side that there are now new deadlines — within two months they will capture the east of our state, Donbas. And therefore, Ukraine has two months to withdraw. Then the war will end. If Ukraine does not withdraw, Russia will capture Donbas and then impose other conditions. A logical question arises: if their goal is only Donbas, then if they capture it, why do they say they will advance further? This means the issue is not Donbas,” the Ukrainian leader added.
