Preparations begin for next Khari Bulbul Music Festival

Preparations have begun for the next Khari Bulbul International Music Festival to be held in Shusha on May 14–15, APA reports.

The 9th edition of the festival, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, is expected to feature an engaging program and performances by talented artists from various countries.

One of the main goals of the festival is to contribute to the development of cultural dialogue and promote creative exchange among musicians. Alongside Azerbaijani performers and music groups, artists from the United States, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Japan, and other countries have been invited.

The festival will kick off with a concert at Jidir Duzu on May 14 and will cover several venues in Shusha over two days.

It should be noted that the Khari Bulbul Music Festival, named after the symbolic flower of Shusha, has been held since 1989. It was first organized in May of that year in connection with the 100th anniversary of renowned khananda, educator, and People’s Artist Seyid Shushinski, starting in the village of Abdal Gulabli in Aghdam district, continuing in Shusha, and concluding with a final concert in Aghdam. Since 1990, the festival has gained international status.

During the years of the Karabakh conflict, the main concerts were held in Aghdam, with some events also organized in Barda and Aghjabadi. Following the historic victory in the Patriotic War and the liberation of the occupied territories, the festival returned to Shusha, with some concerts also held in Lachin.

This celebration of friendship and music, bringing together numerous musicians from around the world, contributes to preserving the rich traditions of Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage and strengthening intercultural dialogue.
