Russian Ministry of Defense once again releases information about capture of Kupyansk

The Russian Defense Ministry has once again released information about the capture of Kupyansk, APA reports, citing TASS.

The report states that the Ukrainian city of Kupyansk is “under the control of the 6th United Guards divisions of the “West” grouping of troops.”

According to the unnamed unit commander, Russian servicemen are “clearing buildings and basements in Kupyansk from separate groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”

The statement by the Russian Defense Ministry came after reports on December 24 that the Ukrainian army had regained control of Kupyansk.

It should be noted that on November 20, the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian army Valery Gerasimov announced that Kupyansk had been captured by Russian troops. Shortly after, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed this information. However, in December, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared a video of his entry into Kupyansk. Putin once again stated at a press conference on the results of the year that the city was under Russian control and called Zelensky's video a fake.
