Train loaded with wheat from Russia reaches Armenia after passing through Azerbaijani territory

The first batch of Russian wheat transported by rail from Azerbaijan has already arrived in Armenia, Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan said, APA reports.

According to him, the first batch of cargo was delivered to the "Ayrum" station.

"This is a historic day. For the first time in almost 35 years, cargo has been delivered to Armenia by rail from the territory of Azerbaijan," the minister emphasized.

The minister noted that the first batch is wheat imported from Russia, and the second batch will come from Kazakhstan. Currently, Kazakh wheat is in Azerbaijani territory and is expected to reach Armenia by November 7.

The wheat, with a total weight of 1,000 tons, consists of 15 wagons.

Although there is currently no direct railway connection between Azerbaijan and Armenia, after President Ilham Aliyev lifted transit restrictions, the first batch of cargo was first sent to Georgia and from there to Armenia.
