Azerbaijan carried out large-scale restoration work at the Military Memorial Cemetery, and a monumental monument erected

The cherished memory of our martyrs and the families of the martyrs are always the focus of attention of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Victorious Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev, and the First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, Colonel Anar Eyvazov, Head of the Press and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Defense, told journalists at the Military Memorial Cemetery on Day of remebrance, APA reports.

He stated that within the framework of the fifth anniversary of the Patriotic War, extensive restoration work has been carried out at the Military Memorial Cemetery in accordance with the instructions of the Supreme Commander: “As a result of the reconstruction work carried out in this area, where our servicemen who were martyred in the First and Second Karabakh wars, the April battles, anti-terrorist operations, as well as in a helicopter crash, and our generals, officers who showed special distinction in service to the homeland, and civilians awarded with various state honors rest, the existing stone fence has been removed.

As a result of the reconstruction work carried out under the direction of the Supreme Commander, the requests and suggestions of the families of the martyrs have been taken into account, in this place where a total of 670 martyrs laid in a rest, including 12 National Heroes and 11 Patriotic War Heroes.”

According to him, a monumental monument symbolizing the 44-day Patriotic War has been constructed: “Additionally, plaques reflecting each day, information, and events of the 44-day Patriotic War have been erected. Due to the restoration work carried out in the area, this place, which is sacred to us, symbolizes our nation’s spiritual and moral values and the cherished memory of our martyrs. Every citizen who visits this holy site will feel the sacrifice of our martyrs. It will always keep our heritage alive in our hearts.”
