A security meeting between Israeli and Syrian officials will take place in Baku on September 18, Olaylar informs referring to Sky News Arabia, citing sources.
On September 17, a meeting between Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani will take place in London, during which the parties will discuss a proposed security agreement. US Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack will also participate in the talks. This will be the third trilateral meeting of this format. Axios, citing informed sources, notes that Israel has presented Syria with a detailed proposal for a new security agreement, including a map of proposed demilitarized zones from southwest Damascus to the Israeli border. The proposal is based on the 1979 peace agreement between Israel and Egypt, which divided the Sinai Peninsula into three zones and defined different security regimes and levels of demilitarization depending on their distance from the border with Israel.
