President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev gave an interview to the Fox News TV channel of the United States of America during his visit to the country. The channel's website published a material based on some of the views expressed by the head of state in the interview, APA reports.
President Ilham Aliyev said in the interview: "It would be very difficult for any state, whether from our region or outside our region, to express any negative opinion about today's achievement. Because today we have taken the final step towards peace."
The material emphasized that the President of Azerbaijan said that the agreement reached on the Zangezur Corridor (TRIPP) is not against anyone. He said that this is a new connectivity project and will be one of the important parts of international transport routes.
In the interview, President Ilham Aliyev also expressed his gratitude to US President Donald Trump and his team for their role in reaching the agreement.
The head of state also spoke about relations with Russia and the shooting down of Azerbaijan Airlines flight 8243 in December 2024. He noted that Azerbaijan does not believe that this was a deliberate attack. "We simply demanded that it be acknowledged, that those who committed this crime be punished, and that full compensation be paid," President Ilham Aliyev added.
